Special Effects Screen Printing

March 7th, 2011

When you think of screen printing t-shirts the first thing comes to mind is spot colours, CMYK or full simulated process, well these aren’t the only techniques that can be used when screen printing. Screenworks Ltd have been slowly introducing some very impressive special effects. There so many to choose from so we have compared a short list of the most commonly used. The most popular is metallic which is plastisol ink but mixed with flicks of metallic, which when viewed in the right lighting conditions gives of a glittering shimmer. Glitter is very popular in the fashion industry or for a bespoke t-shirt, there is also a technique called foil printing, this is very similar but applied via transfer printing a silver or gold foil onto an adhesive applied to the t-shirt. There are many more that we offer but I wanted to introduce readers to these techniques and each month I will  be explaining about these in more detail. If you would like some more information on any special effect screen printed t-shirts please don’t hesitate contacting our dedicated sales team on 01440 702022 or email: sales@screenworks.co.uk web: www.screenworks.co.uk

T-Shirt Printing Simulated Process

January 9th, 2010

T-shirt printing comes in many forms, fashion, advertising, promotional events, corporate wear and many more. Producing a great technical simulated process photographic image onto a t-shirt can be difficult you either use the traditional screen printed technique or the more modern approach digital transfer. Screenworks Ltd have always gone down the traditional root screen printing with many employees having skills from university and knowledge from day to day work over the years. This means that this can be the more difficult decision but does produce a more realistic look and feel when viewing and wearing the garment. Our artwork team have been trained to use a separation programme called quikseps professional which alows them to separate photographic images onto t-shirts. you ask “how do you print a photographic image onto a t-shirts” we would say with difficulty but this is achievable. Colours and halftone dots are what makes the image, The image above “Land Rover” from the company TKS was made up of 6 colours plus a base and even though was printed onto Black we always print black to achieve better detail. The trick is selecting the correct base, adjusting the channels and the producing crisp screens using 90-120 mesh counts and having alot of patience but not to be scared to make adjustments when on press. We are very confident in what we do and are always learning new techniques as every image is approached differently. We offer the service of screen printing onto T-Shirts and are always here to ask advise on designs and would recommend using quikseps professional if they are thinking of getting into separating their images.
